Design Team Post for Lasting Memories no 666

 Morning all

It's the start of a new month. I am away on holidays, brought with me some Christmas Paper to make cards. I have used some left overs from Uniquely Creative papers.

This month on Lasting Memories it's all about Stash Busting.

The first challenge is to use Papers and create a background of woven paper. I made a Christmas Tree as my photo backing. I am pleased with the way it turned out.

I hope it brings some inspiration to you to come and join us this month at Lasting Memories.

Design Team 20th January "Smile"

 Morning all

This is my first page as part of the Design Team for Cookin Up Creations with a Theme of "Out with the Old and in with the New" since last year. Happy to be back

I have chosen to use some of my old paper "Kaisercaft"  Keepsake Collection , I was surprise it was in the old drawer as it was one single piece with a hole cut in it, plus a sticker sheet. Most of thoes pieces I thought had gone to the local kindergarten when I shifted. plus the photo frame

So out with the old and  in with the New I used a piece of Close to my Heart "Hope and Kindness" which was given to me for Mothers Day last May, but it was the last collection other than my kits I received or purchased , as that is when i broke my fingers and since have not scrapped.

I hope you like this plain and simple piece

Great View

Afternoon

On this extremely wet day here is South East Queensland, this is the 6th day of the wet weather.
Last night and most nights since it started we have over 200mls of rain or more.
The back yard looks like a swimming pool. everything feels  so damp.
We had water through a few rooms, but luckily no carpet and no ruined furniture
I thought I would work on the challenge for ARTastic Challenge
This month they have used a shop window picture for us to gain some inspiration

I spent a few days working out what I wanted to do, This month just seems to have been so busy that I didn't get a chance earlier .
I had a Cut file which would have suited nicely , but someone else used it so decided to go through the scenery box and found a  7" x 5" photo so cut it down and backed in with Black cardstock
The out come my scrap box and found some lengths of Red, Royal Blue and Yellow, some pieces had been embossed so decided to use them . Backed all pieces with the Black Cardstock.
I have used a piece from Uniquely Creative "High Tea Collection called "Table Settings"
The look is like a wood veneer pieces I thought could be used as the hanging piece

I hope you like my interpretation of the photo

Summer Love

Afternoon all,

I have sat an completed another layout with some very old holidaysnaps from the early 80s . We had been home for Christmas to see the parents and in-laws from N.S.W and on our way back to Western Australia,  we were towing a trailer packed filled with lots of shopping and our camping equipment.  We where going to spend the night just out of Mildura,  but instead didn't quite make it, the trailer snapped an axle. We had the trailer towed to somewhere that could fix it , but the part was not available so,we need to fine a home base for our unexpected stay. The Murray River caravan Park became our home base for 10days
Set up camp beside the river,  so peaceful in the evenings,  back then their was plenty of wild life.
We watched the River Streamer backwards and forwards on the river. And did a lot of sightseeing through the area. Interacted with the fruit pickers and the locals, it was a lovely place to be stranded. The kids loved it. They swam in the river,  we did lots of walksin the area.

The layout is for Mystical Scrapbooks. This month its all about Sketches,  plus and add extra. With this sketch it was to add chipboard and colour, paint or other form of medium to colour it

Happiness

It was out for eleven and half hours. The storm didn't bring the humidity or the temperature down . At 10.30 it was still 28 degrees Celsius or 82.4 Fahrenheit Its very dark and gloom now there is a storm looming across now.

Today

Morning all

Just sharing a layout I completed during the week. Have all theses drafts in my blog need to get to them and finish them off. At the beginning of year I promised myself I complete and pin 30 layouts to my Pinterest account not sure where I am at will check it all out as I have blog posts that I haven't pinned them as yet

This layout is for this months "Just like Grandmas use to make" over at Cookinup Creations forum page. Its a recipe challenge .

Each of us gives a Recipe and we have converted it to a scrapbook layout

The recipe is from Lolis today

http://www.cookinupcreations.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=169&t=7196

Pan de Polvo is traditionally served at Christmas, Weddings, and Quinceañeras. This recipe is a favorite at Christmas time.

Pan de Polvo

5 lbs. flour

3 lbs. shortening

1 tsp. salt

1 tsp. baking powder

1 cup sugar

1 cup anise tea (Boil a packet of anise tea, plus a couple of cinnamon sticks in water, according to the directions on the anise tea package. If you can't find anise tea, use whole star anise.)

Put all shortening in a very large mixing bowl, I use my Kitchenaid mixer. Add sugar and mix well. Add salt and baking powder; mix well. Add tea and mix well. Then, add flour, about 1/4 at a time and mix well. If it's too hard, add a little of the tea and mix well into the dough. Roll out the dough between two sheets of wax paper to about 1/4" to 1/2" thick. Cut with small cookie cutters. (You don't want large cookies, because they are very delicate & will break easily if they are cut too big, they will turn into dust) Bake at 350 degrees for about 8-10 minutes.

Let them cool and coat with cinnamon sugar coating.

Cinnamon-Sugar Coating:

cinnamon

sugar

There it is! It will make a gazillion cookies, so you will have plenty to give as gifts & share with family! Enjoy!

For Christmas 2021 I didn’t make the cookies, instead we bought some from our grocery store.

For the challenge:

1. Since these cookies are made with cookie cutters, we will use dies or punches to cut out shapes on our page.

2. My beautiful KitchenAid mixer is red, include something red in your layout.

3. For the 5 lbs. Of flour, use 5 different pattern papers or card stock.

For this week's challenge  we where asked to make a monochromatic layout

Not a fan of this type of page.

Over Friday, afternoon and the weekend I made a Signature pages for a swap the title was Summer.

My beach themed papers where still on the table, so I thought lots of blue in the box.

FRIENDS

 Morning  all

Its extremely windy, the weather forecast is also predicting strong seas, the beaches where closed yesterday  due to Tropical cyclone "Seth"

With all the rain we had at least its not dusty.

Yesterday worked on Day 1 of the January Challenges for Cookin up Creations.

The title of the challenge this month is " Just Like Grandma use to make " They all recipe challenges. Today we making Friendship Bread. I had not actually  heard of it. I actually had to google it . Its an Amish bread you make using a starter. I may just have to try and make it as the starter is supposed to last for years

So now time to gather our ingredients to create my layout.

 The instructions are:

1. The instructions for the bread starter have you mashing the bag for 5 days and then adding three ingredients--flour, sugar & milk. You are to select 2 colours plus white to represent the 3 ingredients.

2. The recipe calls for cinnamon to be an optional ingredient. Today we are making it a mandatory ingredient and you must use paint, ink, or misting to splatter your background paper.

3. 3 eggs are used. For the eggs you will be using 1 picture and 2 mats.

4. Baking powder helps to give it some height. Use pop dots or 3D embellishments to add dimension to your LO.

5. Nuts/raisins are also optional ingredients in the recipe but not here and for these you may use brads, buttons, eyelets, enamels.

6. The bread is typically baked in a rectangular pan so use a rectangular journal box to "label" your starter with the date.

7. And finally because this recipe is for sharing the picture needs to be of friends (family) and your title must have the word Friends in it.

http://www.cookinupcreations.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=169&t=7112

Its going to be a fun month so why not come and join us.
